For superstitious people like me, Friday the 13th is not one of those days you look forward to. There is always something weird and sometimes bad that happens to me on those days. However, this particular Friday the 13th was different from the beginning.
Karl and Willie managed to get up and out of the house on time for work and school without the "Mom" at home. Willie had a very nervous day anticipating the results of the SBO election at the high school. Karl had been nervous all week knowing he would be without a full staff in his department at work. I was 2500 miles away from home.
It's petty amazing that the events of the day were some of the best ever. Willie won the election -- President Petersen Hunter Wolverines! Karl got a raise and a bonus! And, I got notification at the meetings I attended in DC that Granite District will be one of 80 FAFSA Demonstration Project Schools -- announced by the US Department of Education.
The days leading up to today have been pretty stressful (but with good results) -- my sister Cindy had hip replacement surgery; my Dad celebrated birthday number 83 (he made it); gender of a new grand baby was determined; my sister Geneil had spinal/back surgery; potential complications of Haley's pregnancy were explained to me in more detail; crazy work schedule (new projects assignments); and house cleaning, cooking, and just taking care of stuff is always there. But, you know what, I made it through Friday the 13th with much to celebrate!
